ChatGPT Facing Downtime

ChatGPT, the widely-used AI chatbot created by OpenAI, is presently undergoing a global outage.

The initial reports emerged around 9:00 AM EAT on June 4th, 2024, with Downdetector showing a substantial increase in outage reports, especially in the US and UK. (Now also affecting the rest of the globe.)

Issues are being reported on multiple platforms, including ChatGPT's web interface, mobile application, and the newly released Mac application. Users attempting to access the service are met with non-responsiveness or error messages such as “internal server error” on the mobile version.

OpenAI has recognized the outage on their status webpage, noting that “ChatGPT is unavailable for some users” and mentioning that an investigation is underway. As of now, the cause of the outage or the time for its resolution has not been officially communicated.

All features of ChatGPT including voice and image are currently not working.

Updates will be provided continuously with the most recent developments as the situation progresses. We will keep you up to date as we learn when ChatGPT will return to normal operation.

UPDATE (1:26pm): The site is back online for some users.
OpenAI and ChatGPT have not yet released an official statement.
